This experience allowed her to learn new cultures, overcome obstacles through grit and determination, and develop a passion for international learning from a young age. Rebecca Guglin is currently studying computer science at Santa Clara University. Growing up in the heart of Silicon Valley while visiting the pristine wilds of coastal Maine each summer, she’s gotten to explore two worlds that, as different as they seem, are overlapping more and more with each new discovery. Her passion for not only preserving the natural world, but making it ever more accessible in the midst of the digital age, is the driving force behind her goal of eventually working in computational sustainability.

She was a student in the first-ever Ingenuity Year program, where she got to expand her horizons and learned critical skills that have not only helped her in her college career, but bolstered her confidence as a lifelong learner and global citizen. She hopes to encourage future Ingenuity Year students to step out of their comfort zones and discover just how many paths are open to them.

In her free time, Rebecca also enjoys filmmaking, hiking, knitting, discovering new music, and most importantly, making her own ice cream recipes.
